Built-In 4G LTE Wi-Fi

The new Chevy Cruze hatchback will come with built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi but how does it work? Do you have to pay a monthly data bill like you do with your phone to use the Wifi hotspot function?

You need to have a compatible phone, On Star service and a Data Plan.

It will cost a bit more but for how much it helps... impulse buy!

Definitely sounds like an impulse buy ! That, like always, I will regret.. But still do nothing to change it lol

I wonder if their data plans are the same as cell phone plans. Which company does it go through ? Does anyone know what the approximate cost is ?

I can imagine that it will vary depending on if you bundle it with other services or even if you just get it individually, then there's the whole part of negotiating that can come into play and work for some of you out there.... if you have enough to leverage.

Hm... yea that makes sense. Just one more thing to throw into the negotiation process, as if it's not hard enough already. Maybe they do something like SiriusXM and give you a month free or something along those lines

there also might be the possibility brand like AT&T will run special promotions with GM, they know how connected everyone is and how big of a pull it is to most people these days. I really wouldn't mind that, even if it was 3-6 months of free data.

3-6 months does seem like a large period of time. But it would be great if they could offer it. Especially if brands like AT&T or Rogers could jump on board with them, it would be great.

I was hoping that it wouldn't require a separate data plan on top of my monthly cell phone plan. May as well just use the wifi hotspot function on my phone at that point than to pay an extra fee every month.
